Cuor Di Albenga is an heirloom oxheart tomato from Albenga, Italy, known for its large, meaty, pleated, teardrop-shaped fruits that are typically red or orangey-red. It has a sweet and savory flavor that makes it excellent for both fresh use, such as in salads, and for cooking, especially roasting, sauces, and canning. These plants are indeterminate, vigorous, and productive. 

Origin: From the Ligurian coast town of Albenga in Northern Italy.

Shape: Large, pleated, teardrop or ox-heart shaped.

Size: Fruits are large, often weighing 10–16 ounces (about 200–300g).

Color: Ranges from pinkish to red or orangey-red.

Flesh: Meaty with few seeds and little juice, with a firm and sweet pulp.

Growth: Indeterminate, vigorous, and productive plants that require staking or caging. 

Fresh: Excellent sliced and eaten raw in salads, or used in Caprese salads.

Imperator Carrots

Imperator carrots are a widely grown, market-standard variety recognized for their long, slender, and uniform roots. Typically reaching 7–10 inches in length, they are prized for their sweetness and versatility, whether eaten fresh or cooked. Best grown in deep, loose, well-drained soil under full sun, Imperator carrots mature in about 65–80 days.

What is the best month to plant sunflower seeds?

Growing sunflowers from seed is super easy, too. Plant seeds after the danger of spring frost has passed and the soil temperature is at least 60 degrees. This will be between March and May, depending on where you live. Plant the seeds no more than an inch deep and about 6 inches apart.

The massive bright yellow blooms have feathery petals and large chocolate brown centers full of seeds. Thin-shelled, striped seeds are plump and meaty with high oil content. Plants grow 6-12' tall and produce flowers that range from 10-12″ across.  

Sunflower seeds can be planted directly into the garden soil.

Sow seed directly into the garden in late spring to early summer or start seeds indoors in 4 weeks before spring frost danger has ended. 

Plant seeds 1” deep and 6” apart. They should come up in 8-10 days depending on the soil temperature and grow quickly in warm weather. After the seeds sprout thin plants to at least 12" apart. First blooms appear 60-90 days after emergence.

They grow well in poor soil and will tolerate heat and dry conditions.

Diamond Eggplant is a high-yielding, Ukrainian heirloom variety known for its slender, dark purple, 6-8 inch long fruits that grow in clusters. It's an early-maturing, open-pollinated plant with excellent disease resistance, making it suitable for climates with short, cool, or northern growing seasons. The firm, non-bitter, and sweet flesh is versatile for grilling, roasting, and other culinary uses.  

Yield: High-yielding and prolific, producing a steady stream of fruits. 

Fruit: Slender, dark purple, and oblong, typically 6-8 inches long and smooth-skinned.

Maturity: Early maturing, making it well-suited for regions with short growing seasons. 

Plant: Reaches about 2 feet in height and is known for good disease resistance and overall hardiness.

Nocera Rosso sel. Giapponese is a delicious Italian pepper variety that is long and narrow with three lobes. It has thick sweet flesh and ripens from green to red. The plants are disease resistant. 85 days.

Medium–early variety, prism-shaped fruits with 3-4 lobes, very long, average weight of 300 gr. Thick, sweet flesh, dark green and bright red when ripe. Vigorous plant with excellent coverage of leaves, good cropper. Suitable variety for outdoors cultivation. SOWING:  Under glass in winter and in open seedbed in March-April.
