We have two setups for seed count in our catalog:
1. Specific Seed Count (ie. 10, 20, 30 Seeds)
2. Generic Seed Count by Weight
SPECIFIC SEED COUNT:
Packed by HAND at various counts.
Seed counts are counted to be specific to what we advertise. For example, if a product says it will have 10 seeds, it will have 10 or more seeds.
GENERIC SEED COUNT BY WEIGHT:
Packed by MACHINE at minimum of 1 gram.
Our house brand has a large packet of 4"x6" for vegetables and 5"x7" for beans. The paper packet alone weighs approx 1-2 grams. A vegetable pack, including paper, can weigh up to 7 grams. A bean pack, including paper, can weigh up to 15-20 grams.
It depends on the size of the seed, the overall value of the seed, and its market.
LARGE SEED TYPES:
Some large seeds can be peas, beans, corn, beets, spinaches, pumpkins, gourds. A corn packet will have approx 40 seeds, a pea/bean will have 25-35 seeds, gourds can have up to 15 depending on the variety.
SMALL SEED TYPES:
Varieties like peppers, kale, lettuce, etc fit this category. You can expect the minimum of 1 gram for general types. Certain tomatoes like Oxheart will have less seeds because of its value in the market.
MICROSEED TYPES:
Microseeds are too small to count. These are hand packed, and often seeds like mint or strawberries which are tiny particles.
RARE SEEDS:
Rare seeds like ghost peppers, etc, will have specific counts mostly but when generic is indicated, you can expect more than 10 seeds but according to its value.
Hope that answers your question. Happy Gardening!
