Telegraph or continental cucumbers are the longest and thinnest of the cucumbers and have a slight 'hook' at one end. Their skin is dark green and has shallow grooves running parallel from top to bottom. Telegraph cucumbers are sweeter than the common cucumber and have very few seeds, if any.
It has long, thin fruits that average about 15–18 inches in length. To keep them growing straight instead of curling we recommend growing the plant vertically and training it on a trellis or netting.
 ‘Telegraph’ is mild in flavor with crisp white flesh and very few seeds—the few seeds it does have are very small and soft, which makes it extremely popular for salads and snacking.

What is Watercress? A favorite with the English, this leafy green spice can be traced back to the Greeks, Romans, and Persians who used it for medical purposes, as a treatment (with vinegar) for insanity, as a stimulant, and as a breath freshener.
Raw watercress has a peppery taste, similar to other related plants like mustard and wasabi. Once cooked the pepperiness of watercress diminishes, leaving a distinctive vegetable flavour which tastes delicious in soups, stews and stir fries. More mature watercress can sometimes taste slightly bitter.

Soil

Limited. The varieties sold as bedding plants can tolerate light frosts, but are meant to be grown as summer annuals.

Feeding

Mix a light application of a balanced organic fertilizer into the soil prior to planting. In summer, drench plants every two weeks with a liquid fertilizer.

Companions

Ageratum and Petunia. African daisies look best when planted in groups or masses, perhaps framed with dusty miller, ageratum or annual verbena. Osteospermum make great flowers for containers.

Spacing

Single Plants: 11" (30cm) each way (minimum)

Rows: 11" (30cm) with 11" (30cm) row gap (minimum)

Sow and Plant

Only a few varieties of osteospermum are grown from seed. The heavy flowering varieties are propagated from rooted stem cuttings and sold as potted plants in spring. Set plants out at about the time of your last spring frost.

Notes

Osteospermum colors include pink, white, and shades of yellow. The plants will bloom for eight weeks or more if old flowers are removed.

Harvesting

When cut as soon as they open, osteospermum make good cut flowers.

Troubleshooting

As plants age, they sometimes develop problems with powdery mildew. Aphids may occasionally feed on new growing tips and buds. Pinch off large colonies.

Pepperoncini Golden Greek

Peperoncini (or pepperoncini), common names Tuscan peppers, sweet Italian peppers and golden Greek peppers, are a variety of the species Capsicum annuum. While called peperoncini in American English, in Italy these particular kind of peppers are called friggitello (plural friggitelli) or more generally peperone (plural peperoni) like other sweet varieties of peppers, while the term peperoncini (singular peperoncino) is used for hotter varieties of chili peppers. The Greek varieties are sweeter and less bitter than the Italian varieties grown in Tuscany. Peperoncini are mild with a slight heat and a hint of bitterness, and are commonly pickled and sold packaged in jars. Peperoncini grow on a bushy plant that reaches 30 inches (77 cm) in height and produces sweet green peppers that turn red when mature. This plant is known in English as water spinach, river spinach, water morning glory, water convolvulus, or by the more ambiguous names Chinese spinach, Chinese watercress, Chinese convolvulus or swamp cabbage, or kangkong in Southeast Asia and ong choy in Cantonese.

Water spinach has light green ovate leaves, its stems are hollow, so they can float on the water. Both leaves and stems are edible and can be used as the way you use spinach. Under tropical conditions, water spinach can be harvested throughout the year, as the leaves grow again after harvesting. In cooler climates, it is grown as annual, mostly in wide containers.

Water spinach is an annual or perennial, aquatic herb whose stem is hollow, spongy and 2–3 m long. It trails or foats on water and is glabrous, or hairy at the nodes. The stem also contains a milky sap. The surfaces of the leaves are even and arrowhead-shaped. The blades extend up to 5–15 cm and are 2–6 cm broad, whereas the petiole is about 3–14 cm in length. The leaves generally foat on water. The fruits are oval-shaped and enclose 1–4 seeds. Seeds may differ in color ranging from gray, brown to black. The flowers are bisexual, funnel shaped and are white to light purple in color.

The habanero chili is one hot pepper! Unripe habaneros are green, and they color as they mature. Common colors are orange and red, but white, brown, and pink are also seen. The Scotch bonnet is often compared to the habanero, since they are two varieties of the same species, but have different pod types.

Both the Scotch bonnet and the habanero have thin, waxy flesh. They have a similar heat level and flavor. Although both varieties average around the same level of “heat”, the actual degree of piquancy varies greatly from one fruit to another with genetics, growing methods, climate, and plant stress.

The name means “someone or something from La Habana”, or as it is known in English, Havana (“b” and “v” being interchangeable phonetically in Spanish).

The habanero chili comes from the Amazonas region, and from there it was spread through Mexico. One domesticated habanero, which was dated at 8,500 years old, was found at an archaeological dig in Peru. The Yucatán Peninsula is the biggest producer of habaneros these days, but it’s grown in many South American and Central American countries.
