A rare heirloom melon variety known for its small to medium-sized fruits and subtly sweet, refreshing flavor. Makono melons typically have smooth to lightly netted skin with pale green to yellow tones and juicy, aromatic flesh. They are well-suited to warm climates and home gardens, offering reliable yields and a unique, mild sweetness ideal for fresh eating, fruit salads, and light desserts.

This premium vining long-melon cultivar features elegantly shaped fruits, reaching up to 50 cm in length. The melons are straight and well-proportioned, with fresh white-green skin naturally marked by distinct green streaks, giving them a unique appearance. The thick, plump flesh contains small ventricles, ensuring high edibility. Its crisp, tender texture delivers a sweet, refreshing flavor. The plants exhibit vigorous growth, with sturdy stems and vines, and show strong stress tolerance.

Pumpkins aren’t difficult to grow, but do require a bit of planning for success. Since their vines can grow 20 feet and they are prone to mildew, a Staking System for vertical support is recommended to keep fruit off the wet ground and allow for good air circulation. You will want to make sure this crop receives direct sunlight every day, and that temperatures are consistenly hot. Once your pumpkins have been planted, preventunwanted pests by covering them with insect netting up until four weeks. Since pumpkins and gourds tend to be heavy drinkers, fill the water reservoir 2-3 times per day once fruit appears on the vines.
