How to Grow Radicchio
HOW TO GROW RADICCHIO
PLANTING RADICCHIO:
Radicchio is best grown in cooler temperatures, so depending on the USDA zone you're in, you may plant it in the spring, summer, or fall.
They do best with temperatures ranging from 30-90F (-1-32C), but be wary of hot, summer days as this can kill the plant.
Plant in soil with a pH of 7.5-8.0, with good drainage and adequate irrigation.
Choose a spot with full sun, but if not, radicchio also tolerates shade.
You can plant radicchio seeds directly into the ground or you can start seeds 6-8 weeks before the last frost indoors.
Plant each plant 8-12 inches apart in rows.
Water the plants twice a week – radicchios need constant irrigation to grow.
Your radicchio plant should mature within 125-130 days.
RADICCHIO CARE:
Keep an eye out on your plants as radicchios are highly susceptible to fungus, pests, and powdery molds.
In areas where there is a large amount of rain especially, there is no need to water otherwise it could cause root rot.
