Purchase your preferred seed varieties in bulk at 50% OFF wholesale pricing, then sell them to friends, family, neighbours, or community members. You can price the packets higher to maximize profits for your fundraising campaign.

Best of all, unsold seed packets can be returned for credit toward next year’s fundraiser, helping reduce risk and waste while supporting your cause year after year.

Habanero Pepper Mix: Chocolate, White, Green, Red, Orange, Yellow, Pepper Seeds

Plant seeds in the garden two weeks before the last frost. Transplants grown indoors will need eight to 10 weeks of growing time before planting out. In areas with less than 120 growing days, the peppers can be started earlier and grown inside until transplant time.

Choose a location with full sunlight for at least six hours per day, as habaneros LOVE the sun. Dig your hole twice the width of your pot and as deep as you can so that the soil level will be as close to the leaves as possible.

Vates Collard, Collard Greens Seeds

(60 days) Open-pollinated. Because of their cold hardiness, collards were a miracle crop that sustained many southern folks through the winters during the Great Depression. Vates is the acronym for Virginia Truck Experiment Station, a hotbed of collard research from 1907-1967. Introduced in the 1930s, this was probably the best-known of all the many developed there. Large upright 1½–2' plants give generous harvests of dark green thick crumpled leaves with a mild cabbage-like flavor. Will overwinter in high tunnels in our climate.

The best environment to grow collard green or mustard greens is in full sun with plentiful, consistent moisture to thrive in your garden. Greens are frost tolerant, so growing them as a late season crop is ideal. Planting greens can also be done in early spring for a summer harvest, but more watering is likely necessary for them to grow successfully during the summer heat. Use insect netting to help protect from early insect infestations. Collards are best consumed in gumbo, braised, or sauteed.

COMMON PESTS: Aphids, Wihteflies

SUSCEPTIBLE TO: Bolting, Mosaic Virus, Fusarium Wilt

Ash Gourd, Southeast Asian Seeds, Winter Gourd Seeds

Growing ash gourd (also known as winter melon or white gourd) in Canada, especially in cooler regions, requires starting seeds indoors and using heat-loving techniques. Start indoors 4 weeks before last frost or sow directly outdoors after last frost.

Insalata Lollo Bionda, Green Coral Italian Lettuce, Southern Silk Road Lettuce - [ Seed2Go - Canada ] - V-LBL - Lettuce
  • On sale!

Insalata Lollo Bionda, Green Coral Italian Lettuce, Southern Silk Road Lettuce

Lollo Bionda lettuce forms a beautiful round mound of pale green, crisp frilled edged leaves. Appreciated for its unique shape and refreshing taste, it holds well in summer heat and in the cold. It makes an attractive complement to Lollo Rossa.

Lollo Bionda, for which you pay premium prices for in the supermarket, is one of the easiest, trouble free lettuces you can grow. It's a cut-and-come-again, that is, if you pick the outer leaves, the plant will continue to grow. Given the right conditions, this type of lettuce will produce leaves for three months or more.

Lettuce is by far the most popular of the leaf salad vegetables, and belongs to the same family as chicory and endive. It has a long history in the kitchen with images on ancient Egyptian tombstones dating from 4500 BC. Definitely a "Heritage Variety" ! The Romans also ate a lot of lettuce and by the 1st century AD, nine varieties were described, perhaps one was Lollo Bionda

Germination: 4-10 days This Italian sister lettuce of Lollo Rossa is refreshingly crisp with a perfect round head of frilly leaves. Harvest the singular leaves as you need them or the entire mounded, fluffy sphere. Holds well in the heat and the cold.

PLANTING: Indoors - 3-4 weeks before planting outside. Sow 1/4" deep in cells with soil temps 55-70 degrees. Transplant out 8-12" apart.

PLANTING: Outdoors - Sow 1/4" deep, 1" apart. Thin to 6-12", depending on the size of lettuce you want from baby to full heads. Keep moist during germination.

Harvest - Cut whole head at base or individual leaves before lettuce starts to bolts and becomes bitter in the heat and long days of summer.

Tips - Plant into fertile soil with lots of organic matter and adequate water for optimum growth. Sow heavy seeded rows every 10-14 days for baby greens using the 1 oz. Pinetree Lettuce Mix for a season long supply of lettuce.

Giant Snapdragon Flower Mix

Soil

Fertile garden soil with excellent drainage.

Position

Full sun.

Frost tolerant

Good. Where winters are mild, well-rooted plants survive one winter and bloom heavily the following spring.

Feeding

Encourage fast growth by mixing a balanced organic fertilizer into the soil before planting.

Companions

Cosmos, Salvia and Celery. Upright and uniform, snapdragons make great accent plants when grown in groups. Try a snapdragon as the upright element in a mixed container.

Spacing

Single Plants: 11" (30cm) each way (minimum)

Rows: 11" (30cm) with 11" (30cm) row gap (minimum)

Sow and Plant

When starting snapdragon seeds indoors in late winter, barely cover the seeds with moist seed starting mix. Grow the seedlings under bright lights until they are large enough to transplant outdoors. Most gardeners save time by buying snapdragons as bedding plants.

Our Garden Planner can produce a personalized calendar of when to sow, plant and harvest for your area.

Notes

Some varieties can grow tall enough to need staking. Colors include red, orange, yellow, violet, white, pink and many bicolors.

Harvesting

Snapdragons make wonderful cut flowers. Gather stems when two-thirds of the flowers on the spike have opened. As flowers fade outdoors, snip them off with scissors to encourage reblooming.

Troubleshooting

Especially in warm, wet weather, tired snapdragons may collapse from various root rot diseases.
