Scotch Bonnet Orange

These attractive orange hot peppers have a surprising amount of heat and a wonderful aroma. Their unique taste is required for authentic jerk sauce. Jerk is a way of cooking that originated in Jamaica when meat is rubbed with a very sharp spice mixture called Jamaican Jerk spice. It is closely related to the habanero, but with a sweeter flavor and stouter shape. 

The pods are 1-1/2" wide and 1-1/2" long and have a citrus-like flavor with a lot of heat. They have smooth waxy skin and four globular ridges at the bottom that aren't quite bonnet-like. The peppers mature from green to bright orange on very productive 24" tall plants.  Capsiucum chinense (90 days)

Orange Lantern is a hot little chili that originated in South America.

The plants become relatively compact and produce masses of small very hot fruits, which look like small lanterns.

Plant in moist seed soil or peat briquettes and place warm. approx. 25-30 degrees for best germination The soil should be moist but not wet. Feel free to use mini-greenhouses to maintain a moist environment. When the plants have grown somewhat and have their second pair of leaves, you can advantageously lower the temperature to about 20 degrees and move them out of the mini-greenhouse. "Trottolino pepper" is an Italian hot pepper, often sold as Trottolino Amoroso. It is known for its medium heat, sweet and fruity flavor, and a distinctive shape that resembles a spinning top. These peppers grow on bushy plants and ripen from green to red. 

The Trottolino Amoroso pepper, also known as Diavolicchio, has a Scoville heat unit (SHU) rating that varies widely, with sources listing it between \(500\) and \(20,000\) SHU. One source notes that it was once renamed in honor of the Diavolicchio pepper. While some reports indicate a very low heat level with fruity flavor, others describe it as a medium-hot pepper with a high SHU rating. 

Characteristics

Flavor and heat: The Trottolino Amoroso has a sweet, fruity flavor with some bitterness and is considered medium-hot.

Appearance: The peppers are upright, chubby, and conical in shape, with some varieties having dark purple markings as they mature.

Color: They start green and ripen to a bright red.

Growth: The plants are relatively small and bushy, with a long fruiting period.

Uses: It is considered a great cooking and stuffing pepper.
